Dr. Anthony Tersigni was appointed President and CEO of Ascension Health on June 18, 2004.  Prior to his appointment as President and CEO, he served as Ascension Health’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from January 2001 through December 2003.  He was interim CEO for the System beginning in January 2004.

Mark D. Barner

Chief Executive Officer, Ascension Health Information Services (AHIS)

Mark D. Barner serves in a dual role as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Ascension Health and as the Chief Operating Officer of Ascension Health Information Services. AHIS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ascension Health dedicated to information technology for 28 Health Ministries within Ascension Health as well as the System Office. Mr. Barner’s duties include management of IT operations, strategy, project execution and service delivery.

Charles J. Barnett

Texas Ministry Market Leader, Ascension Health
President and Chief Executive Officer, Seton Family of Hospitals

Charles J. Barnett is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Seton Family of Hospitals in Austin, Texas, and serves as the Texas Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health. He provides strategic and operational leadership for Seton while promoting alignment among Health Ministries within the Texas market and with the System Office on issues related to Mission and Vision. In addition, Mr. Barnett shares accountability for strategic positioning and operational performance of the Health Ministries in his market, which include the Seton Family of Hospitals and Providence Healthcare Network, Waco.

James K. Beckmann, Jr.

Senior Vice President for System Support Services and Chief Risk Officer, Ascension Health

James K. Beckmann, Jr., is Senior Vice President for System Support Services at Ascension Health. In this position, he has executive management responsibility for Supply Chain, Risk Management, Corporate Responsibility, and the Facility Resources Group. He also serves as the Chief Risk Officer and the Corporate Responsibility Officer. Jim is responsible for developing and implementing organizational approaches that optimize operations in a sustainable fashion at Ascension Health. This includes providing the vision and strategy to accelerate non-labor expense management within supply chain; leading the strategic and operational efforts of the insurance and risk management programs; developing and implementing the System Corporate Responsibility Program; and overseeing the System approach to facility development.

Leo P. Brideau

Wisconsin/Missouri Ministry Market Leader, Ascension Health
President and Chief Executive Officer, Columbia St. Mary's

Leo P. Brideau is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia St. Mary’s, Milwaukee, and serves as the Wisconsin/Illinois/Missouri Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health. He provides strategic and operational leadership for Columbia St. Mary’s while promoting alignment among Health Ministries within the Wisconsin market and with the System Office on issues related to Mission and Vision. In addition, Mr. Brideau shares accountability for strategic positioning and operational performance of the Health Ministries in the Wisconsin market.

Ruth W. Brinkley, RN, FACHE

West Ministry Market Leader, Ascension Health
President and Chief Executive Officer, Carondelet Health Network

Ruth W. Brinkley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Carondelet Health Network in Tucson, Ariz., and West Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health. She provides strategic and operational leadership for Carondelet while promoting alignment among Health Ministries within the Western Region and the System Office on issues related to Mission and Vision. Ms. Brinkley shares accountability for strategic positioning and operational performance for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Lewiston, Idaho, and Lourdes Health Network, Pasco, Wash.

Scott Caldwell

Scott Caldwell is a Senior Vice President and the Chief Supply Chain Officer at Ascension Health. In this role, he has responsibility for supply chain strategy and operations. Mr. Caldwell has more than 25 years of successful supply chain leadership and an extensive background in supply chain logistics, contracting, complex operating room delivery systems, waste management, cost process controls and cost/use reduction efforts with physician preference items.

Sr. Bernice Coreil, DC, is the Senior Executive Advisor to the President of Ascension Health.  Her experience in health ministry ranges from Business Manager to Chief Executive Officer, and in Provincial Leadership as Health Councillor and Visitatrix of the Daughters of Charity, West Central Province.

Susan L. Ann Esposito is the Senior Vice President and Program Executive for Symphony at Ascension Health. She is responsible for leading design and implementation of our efforts to enhance standardization of Finance, Supply Chain and Human Resources processes and put in place the technology tools to produce integrated clinical, operational and financial information.

Kaiser, FACHE, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sacred Heart Health System, Pensacola, Fla., and serves as the Gulf Coast/North Florida Ministry Market Leader for Ascension Health.  She provides strategic and operational leadership for Sacred Heart Health System while promoting alignment among Health Ministries within the Gulf Coast/North Florida market and with the System Office on issues related to Mission and Vision.  In addition, Ms. Kaiser shares accountability for strategic positioning and operational performance of St. Vincent’s HealthCare, Jacksonville, Fla., and Providence Hospital, Mobile, Ala.

Susan Nestor Levy

Susan Nestor Levy serves as the Chief Advocacy Officer at Ascension Health and Executive Director of Ascension Health’s international ministry, Seton Institute. Ms. Levy oversees one of the three parts of Ascension Health’s Call to Action, “Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind,” which frames Ascension Health’s commitment to the most vulnerable with a 2020 goal of 100% access and 100% coverage.  She also operates a legislative and public policy office in Washington, D.C., and oversees Ascension Health’s national access catalyst role to expand access in community collaboratives in 19 states and Washington, D.C.  In addition, Ms. Levy oversees the Daughters of Charity-St. Louis Foundation.

Challis M. Lowe

Challis M. Lowe is Senior Vice President, Organizational Development and Human Resources. She leads Ascension Health’s work in all aspects of strategic organizational development. Through partnerships with the MMLs and CHROs, she is responsible for the continued development of human resource capabilities across the Health Ministries including OD/HR strategy that supports the Strategic Direction, metrics and reporting, organizational development, strategic talent management, leadership and associate development, compensation and benefits and associate engagement. Ms. Lowe also provides leadership to Ascension Health’s System Office and AHIS HR services.
