The five Michigan Health Ministries of Ascension Health are helping transform healthcare in the Michigan region by providing the highest quality care to all, with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. In fiscal year 2011 the Michigan Health Ministries of Ascension Health will provide approximately $314 million in community benefits and care for the poor; this is $90 million (or 50%) higher than what was provided five years ago.

The Michigan Health Ministries and their inspired associates, serve vital functions in the state:

  • One out of every eight patients cared for in Michigan is served by one of Ascension Health’s Michigan ministries
  • Significant employer in all of the communities we serve: over 30,000 associates state-wide
  • Major economic driver in the state, with $1.5 billion in payroll each year
  • Expansive coverage serving across Michigan’s lower peninsula in rural, suburban and urban hospitals
  • One of the top three Medicaid providers in the state
