About Ascension Health

aboutascensionhealth

Ascension Health is transforming healthcare by providing the highest quality care to all, with special attention to the poor and vulnerable. Ascension Health, which provided $868 million in care of persons who are poor and community benefit last year, is the nation's largest Catholic and nonprofit health system, and the third-largest system (based on revenues) in the United States. Our mission-focused Health Ministries provide acute care services, long-term care, community health services, psychiatric, rehabilitation and residential care. Our sponsors began this ministry of faith hundreds of years ago. Today we continue their legacy through the work of more than 113,000 associates serving in more than 500 locations in 20 states and the District of Columbia.

Our Strategic Direction incorporates an outward promise to those we serve to deliver Healthcare That Works, Healthcare That Is Safe, and Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind, for Life, by the year 2020.

We continue to build on the remarkable progress we have made as a healing ministry and share a sacred obligation on behalf of those we serve. Our actions are guided by the Mission, Vision, and Values on which our ministry is built. Through the conviction of our local and national leaders, our strategic direction guides us to provide:
  • Safe, effective, evidence-based care
  • Coordinated, efficient processes
  • Provide compassionate emotional and spiritual support
  • Assist the uninsured and underserved

Ascension Health is a steward of the gifts entrusted to us to strengthen our ministry's ability to serve the poor and vulnerable. We support strengthening the Catholic healthcare voice and presence in the United States and affirm our commitment to collaborative relationships with those who are deeply committed to achieving access to holistic care for all.
