Charism

According to the Catholic understanding, a divine and spiritual gift to individuals or groups for the good of the community. Although some charisms are extraordinary, such as prophecy or healing, most are simply common powers whose purpose is the ordered growth of the community in general, and the Christian community in particular (Source: Encyclopedia of Catholicism, ed. Richard P. McBrien. New York: HarperCollins Publisher, Inc., 1995).
