Hastings Center
Founded in 1969, The Hastings Center is an independent organization comprised of physicians and scientists, lawyers, philosophers, corporate executives and government officials. The Hastings Center is dedicated to advanced research and studies in biomedical ethics. It has a 24 member Board of Directors, and a large staff that attempts to resolve difficult moral problems relating to health care and medicine. It is funded through the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations. The Center is now located in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., 30 miles north of New York City. The Center publishes The Hastings Center Report, a quarterly journal focusing on issues in health care ethics.
