 Sister Mary Catherine “Kay” Ryan, CSJ

Sr. Kay Ryan, CSJ, currently serves as the Chair of the Sponsors Council of Ascension Health and is a member of the Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province.
Prior to her current role, Sr. Kay served as the Director of the Family Life Office, Diocese of Albany, N.Y. As an active member of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers, she served as President and Executive Director for two years, National Conference Chair for two years and National Treasurer for four years. Sr. Kay also served as her religious community Vocation Director and ministered as a high school educator teaching religion and mathematics. In addition, she served as Women’s Athletic Director and class moderator.
Sr. Kay received her bachelor’s degree in education (math) and philosophy from Albany State University, Albany, N.Y. She completed some religious studies at the College of St. Rose, Albany, N.Y., and received clinical pastoral education from Mercy Center, Mass. She received her master’s degree in pastoral ministry from Boston College, and has completed post-graduate studies in family systems and leadership development.
Sr. Kay has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the College of St. Rose, Albany, N.Y. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Hispanic Outreach Services, serving six years as Board President. She has been a delegate to the Congregational Chapter of the Sisters of St. Joseph and to Province Chapters/Assemblies of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sr. Kay has been involved in the Process Team and in the facilitation of Chapter and Assemblies for the Sisters of St. Joseph. She has served on a number of Diocesan committees, including a ministries committee, Diocese-wide gathering committees, and a strategic planning implementation committee. In addition, Sr. Kay has facilitated workshops, and has been the facilitator for numerous organizations and members.
