Daniel J. Elsener

Daniel J. Elsener currently serves as a member of the Sponsors Council of Ascension Health, and is the President of Marian College, Indianapolis.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Elsener served as the Executive Director of the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and Project E Indiana. He has strong leadership experience in Catholic education. He served as Secretary/Executive Director for Stewardship and Development and Secretary/Executive Director, Office of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and was the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, Kan. In addition, Mr. Elsener was the Principal of Hayden High School, Topeka, Kan., and a teacher at Daniel J. Gross High School, Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Elsener holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and education from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, Neb., and a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He has completed extensive graduate work beyond his master’s degree and is a graduate of the Robert E. Taft Institute of Government, the Omaha Development Institute, the Advanced Development Institute for Catholic Education, SRI Catholic School Principal Perceiver Training, and the IBM Executive Education Program.

Mr. Elsener is a member of numerous community and professional organizations, including the National Catholic Educational Association and Chief Administrators of Catholic Education, the Economic Club of Indianapolis, the Indiana Conference of Higher Education, the American Council on Education, Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, Legatus, the Indianapolis and Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and the Indiana State Board of Education.
